Artist Statement
For the past several years, I have created painted environments that highlight a fascination with fragmented, mutated, and reconstructed biomorphic form with the artistic sensibility of a childrens book. These installations are theatrical investigations of the arbitrary, corruptible, and transient nature of perceived reality. Gardens of earthly delight, fecund and pulsing with monstrous beauty, they are intended to delight and disorient. Part confection and part infection, the work skates the line between the seductive and the beastly, the playful and the menacing, the natural and the synthetic, the real and the stuff of our dreams.
